Building description

This well-known administrative building was built in 1977 as the head office of the Motokov foreign trade organisation. General public opinion of the building is that it is well built and a valuable piece of architecture. With a height of 104 metres (second tallest building in the Czech Republic, after CITY TOWER) and its remarkable location, it boasts spectacular views of the city landmarks and the building itself represents a prominent feature of the Prague panorama. The subtle style of the new façade of the 27-storey building sets the pattern of architectural elegance for decades to come. There is plenty of evidence that the building meets high architectonic, aesthetic and functional requirements, including the fact that in the Best of Realty 2004 competition the building took home an award in the “Refurbished Office Space” category. In 2000, the Motokov building was bought by the ECM development company, which started its gradual overhaul in 2001. This was the very first part of the multifunction CITY Project; in this context, the building was renamed to CITY EMPIRIA. The construction work was done while the building continued to be used; this, and the construction of a new reception area with direct access from the Pankrác subway station are the most unique features of the project. The reconstruction was completed in 2005. The last available spaces were leased in May 2005, fully occupying the building.

Location description

The CITY Project is located in Pankrác, which is part of the Prague 4 District. Its location provides straight and easy connection to the road system as well as to the public transport system. In addition to trams and buses, the site is above the Pankrác Station on Line C of the subway. Another line, D, is planned to be built, so that the two underground lines will intersect under the CITY Project site. This further enhances the Project’s importance.
